I ordered this backpack for my son who graduated college last year and got his dream job a couple of months ago. When I see an Ascentials Pro product I associate them with profess...view moreionals and executives. Every young professional (and older professional) would look really smooth carrying their gear in one of these. My son was in the Army for a few years prior to getting his degree in computer science in Boston so I know he needed something really special to put his new 15" company laptop and phone in. Some days he takes the train to work and he said it is the perfect backpack, rugged and practical. He wrote the following statements: I wish I had this backpack when I was in college because I think I would have been more organized. The functional design gives me plenty of room in the main and exterior compartments to carry everything to and from work. It's comfortable to wear around my shoulders during my long commute and is soft, thin, and lightweight but very rugged and durable. The "return me" feature is really a big bonus and kudos to whoever thought up that system. This is one of the best gifts I could have gotten. It was a good investment and will last me for years. I'm going to send my mother some pics soon so she can update the review. view less
This is an example of when something utilitarian can also be beautiful. The material is "100% Nylon Ballistic," which I'm not sure what it means, but it feels like high-quality can...view morevas material, not coarse, and smooth for a canvas material. The two-tone design of a grayish green and dark gray plays really well with each other. This is something that complements great with the outdoors. It is meant to be more of a daybag - it looks sleek and stylish, yet heavy-duty enough to be rugged. You can't stuff too many things in there - for a travel backpack, there are better options. It is not too small, and not too big. There are enough compartments and pockets to store what you need for the day.One of the unique features of this backpack is a to aid you in recovering your backpack if you've lost it. Obviously, haters gonna hate, so stealers gonna steal, but at least this feature provides an option if someone finds your backpack, and wishes to find the owner and return it to them, then they can. They would use the app and enter in the serial of the backpack to get your contact info.Overall, this backpack successfully combines the the aspects of utility and design, so you can look good while doing your thing. It can fit a laptop and your essentials for the day, but it is not meant for a camping or backpacking excursions. While more costly than some backpacks, it stands out, and the quality is worth the investment. So although it is not for everyone, if you are one of those who are looking for something different than the sea of black and gray backpacks, you should check this one out.Update August 14, 2020: I see that there is a 35% coupon, which makes this bag $65 and even more awesome of a deal. $100 would put it at premium category, but now its price is in a much more attractive range for many people. view less
This compact but roomy bag from AP Ascentials checked most of the boxes on my "wish list" for a new backpack: quality materials, thoughtful layout, multiple compartments, and decen...view moret price.Designed to be a backpack or a tote, the bag was made from a strong, water-resistant "ballistic grade" nylon, with aluminum hardware. Despite the streamlined exterior, the bag measured a generous 15.5'' x 16.5'' x 5.25'', with a volume capacity of 17 Liters. A standard 15-inch laptop computer did fit in the compartment designed to contain it. In addition to the laptop compartment, there was an exterior zipper pocket, a front hidden zipper pocket, and the main compartment which held a surprising amount (see photos). A unique feature on this model was the side lock system which used metal hardware to secure and adjust the straps. This bag featured a serial number-based tracking system designed to aid in recovery of a lost bag (see photo). Registration of the bag for this program was done via an app.The only shortcomings found on this bag seemed rather minor, but should be mentioned. The laptop compartment could have used a bit more padding to protect the laptop inside. Also, I was disappointed to have to download yet another phone app to register the bag. A website-based program would be quicker and spare some memory on my phone. The shortcomings were so minor, they did not justify reducing the star rating of the bag. In short, I strongly recommend the Pro Blaze backpack from AP Ascentials! view less
